Jostaberry
£12.00 (each)
A cross between a gooseberry and a blackcurrant, these are very vigorous plants with fruit the size of a gooseberry, the colour of a blackcurrant, and a tangy-sweet flavour that falls between the two. Crucially, they do not have spines, making for friendlier picking and pruning. Only one cultivar exists, this is it!
- organic certified by Soil Association
- mildew resistant
Planting and care
Jostaberries are happy in a sunny spot and can tolerate some shade. Give each plant an absolute minimum of 1.5m x 1.5m space to grow into. When planting, ensure that the roots are well spread out - don’t curl or squash them into the planting hole. Water well after planting, especially in a dry spring.
You may need to protect your fruit from birds with netting or a fruit cage.
